Spread the love

If you are new the field of film making, you would wonder why colour grading happens to be an area of film making where much attention is given. You may think it is as simple as putting in the clips together and putting a cool filter on top of it. However, an editor that is experienced would know better. There are certain movies that have reached success through effective colour grading, and there are certain movies that flopped due to the fact that their colour grading was not that appealing. When the colour grading is not done right, despite how cinematically good your film might be, it would look ugly.  However, colour grading a movie would not be something that is easy to do. There are so many challenges to be faced, and it would do well for one to know how to face these challenges successfully.

When a film is being shot, it would be shot under different lighting conditions and different external circumstances. There would even be occasions where the camera would change. So, it would be obvious to one that the footage, even when edited together, would be hindered by the fluctuation of colours that are there in the movie. Each scene has to match well with the colour pallets that were there in the previous one, and it has to leave space for the next shot to fit in with the same colour pallets. This hard task is done through effective software such as Final Cut Pro, where one would be able to control many of the aspects of the film. As for colour grading, it would be possible for one to go for the option of luts. Which basically is would be presents of colour pallets that you could match the footage of the movie with. When you have a Final Cut Pro lut loader incorporated into your editing computer, much of the colour grading matters would be fixed.

There would be a big change before and after the colour grading is done. You would also be able to set the tone of the movie through effective colour grading. Once the lut loader is there in the software, you would just have to choose a fcpx lut that will get the job done.

Hence it should be clear to one on how important colour grading is, and it would be necessary for all film makers to know the right tools that could be utilized when it comes to colour grading as they would be well capable of making your movie better.
